La Luz Trail #137

La Luz Trail is one of the best-known and most challenging trails in the Sandia Mountains outside Albuquerque. It takes you 7.5 strenuous miles up the mountains from a hot desert landscape to a cooler alpine forest as you gain 3,200 vertical feet of elevation. La Luz Trail also connects to several other trails within the Sandia Mountain Wilderness. This challenging hike is recommended only for experienced and prepared hikers.
