This charming Victorian landmark in the West End neighborhood of Atlanta was the home of Joel Chandler Harris and his family. Harris is famous for writing the Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit stories, which were based on African American folklore. He was a lifelong journalist and associate editor of The Atlanta Constitution for 24 years. The house looked different in 1881 when the Harris Family moved here. The Harrises extensively renovated and expanded the original farmhouse into the Queen Anne Victorian style home it is today. The Wren’s Nest became a house museum in 1913, making it the first and oldest house museum in Georgia.
